QMusic ready to rock Valley Fiesta as new producer

Brisbane’s biggest street party is set to return to the Fortitude Valley, with a revamped Valley Fiesta to welcome up to 65,000 fans for three days of music, arts and theatre, under new producer QMusic.

Cr Quirk said Valley Fiesta would be back with a new look for 2018, with live entertainment across the Brunswick Street and Chinatown Malls for five days.

“Valley Fiesta has been showcasing the best of Brisbane’s music and arts scene since launching in 1997, celebrating the work of local acts and showing just why our city is regarded as a great place to live, work and relax,” Cr Quirk said.

“We are proud to announce QMusic as the new producer for the Valley Fiesta, for the twenty second edition of the event, which will deliver even more to see and do over the festival.

“This year’s Fiesta will include a range of free and ticketed events across the Fortitude Valley precinct, with a number of local venues, laneways and shops all involved, as well as exciting outdoor performances, theatre and art installations.

“Highlights of the new 5-day Fiesta format include a ground-breaking visual arts showcase with building lighting, projection mapping, installations and décor.

“The event will also feature a themed performance stage in Brunswick Street Mall and a special program of active events as part of Activity weekend.”

Central Ward Councillor Vicki Howard said Valley Fiesta would once again provide a fantastic platform for Brisbane’s emerging musical and creative talent, with a packed program of performers to be announced soon.

“As the home of a number of iconic Brisbane events live music venues, the Fortitude Valley is recognised as a vibrant 24-hour Brisbane destination and I’m looking forward to the return of its flagship festival,” Cr Howard said.

“Fiesta is much more than a street party, it is one of more than 50,000 festivals, events and markets we help to deliver each year as part of our commitment to create more leisure and lifestyle opportunities.

“Once again, Valley Fiesta will be one of the highlights of Brisbane’s social calendar, showcasing the best of our city’s musicians and performers.”

Valley Fiesta will be held from 29 August through to 2 September, 2018.
